In 1958, Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, one of the most complete interior commissions of the twentieth century. The foot stool, model 3127, was part of that original vision: a companion piece conceived alongside the chair, not added to it afterward.
The form follows the same logic as its counterpart. A shell of reinforced polyurethane foam holds an organic, enveloping silhouette that reads as sculpture from every angle. Upholstered in fabric or leather, it sits on a four-star swivel base in polished or satin-finish aluminum.
Fritz Hansen has produced the Egg continuously since its introduction, maintaining the proportions and construction Jacobsen specified. The foot stool functions independently, but the pairing reveals the full spatial intention of the original design.
