La lampada Domo fu originariamente disegnata dal designer italiano Joe Colombo nel 1965. All'epoca, egli progettò tre lampade basate sulla stessa forma centrale. Noto per il suo design democratico e funzionale, i suoi mobili flessibili e convertibili erano pensati per essere utilizzati in molti modi diversi – tutto a vantaggio dell'utente. Joe Colombo sperimentò nuovi materiali e le tecnologie più recenti e progettò futuristiche “macchine per abitare”, molte delle quali sono diventate icone di un nuovo modo di vivere. Una di queste è Domo. Colombo spesso rifiutava angoli acuti e linee rette a favore di forme curvilinee.
