JOV was founded in 2001 by Belgian textile expert Jo Vandenbussche, who transformed decades of industry experience into a deeply personal rug atelier built on craftsmanship, precision and emotion. After discovering a small workshop in Espinho, Portugal, Jo began producing hand‑tufted rugs made from pure materials like wool, linen and silk, each custom‑made for a single client rather than mass production. In 2009, he established JOV’s own production facility in Portugal, strengthening the brand’s control over quality and artisanal technique. Today, under the leadership of Jo’s son Gilles, JOV remains devoted to natural fibers, hand‑crafted processes and quiet luxury, offering fully bespoke rugs that serve as tactile landscapes, unique pieces shaped by texture, restraint and a deep respect for material integrity.
