Evergreen Brasil debuts on December 1 and continues through the month of December at Luminaire Lab in Miami’s Design District.
Evergreen Brasil debuts on December 1 and continues through the month of December at Luminaire Lab in Miami’s Design District.

Characterized by a welcoming attitude, connection to nature, inventiveness, and tendency to experiment and improvise, Brazilian culture is a celebration of diversity. The dynamic culture is reflected in the unique multidisciplinary objects created by Brazilian designers. Luminaire and Casa Vogue Brasil will highlight a range of Brazilian designers from different generations who manifest the magnetism of their culture through their work in the design exhibition “Evergreen Brasil” during Art Basel and Design Miami/ week Thursday, December 1.

Underlining the vibrant spirit of the country, the exhibition features the work of 14 multidisciplinary artists and designers united in their utilization of native materials and inspirations to explore expressions of cultural identity and experimental practices. The exhibition includes a curated selection of design pieces from design master Jorge Zalszupin, contemporary designers and architects Fernando and Humberto Campana, Arthur Casas, Marcio Kogan, Marcelo Rosenbaum, Claudia Moreira Salles and Isay Weinfeld, jewelry designer Antonio Bernardo, as well as rising talents including Carol Gay, Ana Neute, Pedro Paulo Venzon and Guilherme Wentz. Harnessing the richness of the Brazilian culture, these designers create pieces that strive to improve their environment.

One of the exhibition’s highlights is the Candy Chandelier designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana and created by the Czech lighting company Lasvit, that was inspired by the multi-hued candies found in Brazilian markets. Other pieces of the exhibition include a collection of baskets made by artisans from the Northeast of Brazil curated by Marcelo Rosenbaum, a rustic table and the first furniture piece ever designed by Claudia Moreira Salles, Jorge Zalszupin´s iconic tea trolley and a wood necklace designed by Antonio Bernardo.

Although it is difficult to categorize design styles by their origin or country, there is one common link between all Brazilian designers and that is their ability to always create and produce fresh and everlasting pieces with a special dose of respect to nature and its resources – truly evergreen.

Evergreen Brasil debuts on December 1 and continues through the month of December at Luminaire Lab in Miami’s Design District. The exhibition is made possible through a special collaboration with Casa Vogue Brasil and contributing galleries such as Espasso, Galeria Nicoli, Itens, Matter, and Tidelli.
