In June 1991, Luminaire witnessed the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair for the second year in a row. The Chicago showroom participated in the city-wide celebration of interior design with a two day event co-sponsored by B&B Italia. At Luminaire, design is not simply a product; it is a philosophy, an experience – both a way of living and a way of thinking.
Always concerned with exploring the ways design can affect people’s lives, Luminaire invited two of the most successful international designers to present new, ground-breaking seating systems and discuss how successful products develop from a continuous occupation with design as a lifestyle and a philosophy. Paolo Piva unveiled his revolutionary Artema seating system, while Carlo Forcolini presented the Uni-X seating system, which highlights a simple yet distinctive upholstery concept.
To be sure, concept was integral to the realization of both systems, but it was the classy, comfortable, sociable and at times playful materials and forms that allowed NeoCon visitors from all over the world to experienced design as a living, breathing part of everyday life.
