It engages the craft directly, hand-weaving the body in a tradition shared across Asian and Mediterranean cultures for centuries.
The frame is sustainably sourced teak, a wood whose density and natural oils have long made it a reference material for pieces that live between indoors and out. Against it, the hand-woven rattan reads as both structure and surface. The chair does not separate the two.
Removable cushions complete the composition without overriding the silhouette. The proportions remain precise. Fukasawa, whose practice consistently finds the quiet gesture inside a familiar form, designed the Tou to reward proximity: restrained at first glance, articulate in detail.
