The result reads as though carved from a single block of wood, its joints so precisely resolved they seem to disappear entirely.

Maruni's production process combines computer-controlled milling with hand-finishing, a pairing that honors the company's eight decades of industrializing Japanese craft. The wood, left unaltered in its natural texture and grain, gives the chair an immediate warmth. Beech and oak each carry their own character: one finer and more uniform, the other more expressive in figure.
