Series 7™ Chair 3107
Made by Fritz Hansen
Designed by Arne Jacobsen
Arne Jacobsen conceived the Series 7™ in 1955 as a refinement of his earlier Ant Chair, pushing the moulded veneer shell to a new formal precision. The four-legged 3107 is the chair that emerged from that pursuit and never left.
The shell is formed from layers of wood veneer, cold-pressed into a single continuous curve that distributes weight evenly and gives the chair its characteristic lightness. That process, developed in collaboration with Fritz Hansen's production team in Denmark, remains essentially unchanged. The result carries the kind of quiet authority that only comes from a form that has proven itself over decades.
- Shell constructed from moulded veneer in a range of wood species and lacquered finishes
- Four-leg base in chrome-plated or satin-brushed steel
- Available with or without upholstered seat pad
- Stackable up to six chairs high
The 3107 has appeared in Christine Keeler's most reproduced portrait, in mid-century offices across Copenhagen, and in some of the most considered interiors of the past half-century. Its presence in a room is never incidental.
