Sebastian Herkner's Pipe Chair for Moroso draws its character from a single, decisive element: an 80mm powder-painted aluminum tube that forms the entire structural frame. The scale of that tube is deliberate. It gives the chair a presence that reads as almost sculptural, somewhere between industrial architecture and domestic comfort.
The seat cushion is shaped to suggest something inflatable, a rounded, generous form constructed from stress-resistant, flame-retardant polyurethane in varied densities with a polyester fiber finish over a hardwood frame. The backrest follows the same logic, using injected flame-retardant polyurethane foam and polyester fiber to hold its shape over time. External backrest supports and legs are tubular steel, available in chrome or powder-coated finish, resting on transparent PVC glides.
