The Petra planter is rooted in two recurring preoccupations of Mastrangelo's practice: the drum, or cylinder, and the geological quality of rock formation. Neither element is incidental. The cylinder offers a geometry of quiet authority, a form that holds without asserting. The Petra surface, by contrast, is all texture, suggesting sediment, pressure, and deep time.

Together, they produce an object that reads as both vessel and sculpture. At rest beside a plant, it anchors a room without competing with it. The mineral quality of the surface shifts with light, lending the piece a presence that changes across the day.
