Gong Lux Side Table
Made by Cappellini
Designed by Giulio Cappellini
Giulio Cappellini has long worked at the intersection of industrial process and sculptural restraint. The Gong Lux Side Table distills that sensibility into a single, composed object: laser-cut sheet metal rendered with a polished galvanic brass finish that catches light without demanding it.
The form is spare, but the presence is immediate. Proportion does the work here, allowing the table to hold its own against bold interiors while receding gracefully into quieter ones.
The galvanic process gives the brass surface a depth that patinates subtly over time, marking the object with the character of its environment. What begins as a precise industrial finish slowly becomes something more personal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a galvanic brass finish?
Galvanic finishing is an electrochemical process that deposits a layer of brass onto a metal substrate, producing a surface with exceptional depth and consistency. The result is more durable and visually richer than conventional plating, and it develops a subtle character over time with use.
Who is Giulio Cappellini?
Giulio Cappellini is the creative director and a founding figure of the Cappellini brand, known for identifying and championing avant-garde designers from around the world. His own design work shares the same commitment to formal precision and material clarity that defines the broader Cappellini collection.
How does laser-cut sheet metal affect the table's structure?
Laser cutting allows for exceptionally clean edges and complex geometries that would be difficult to achieve through conventional fabrication. In the Gong Lux, this process contributes to the table's refined silhouette and the taut, deliberate quality of its form.
What interiors work best with the Gong Lux Side Table?
The Gong Lux reads well in both minimal and layered interiors. Its brass finish creates a dialogue with warm-toned materials like wood, marble, and leather, while its geometric precision holds its own in more contemporary, monochromatic settings.
Is the Gong Lux Side Table suitable for contract or hospitality use?
Cappellini pieces are produced to standards that support both residential and contract applications. Architects and interior designers specifying for hospitality or commercial interiors should consult with a design professional regarding finish durability and suitability for specific environments.
