Jean-Marie Massaud conceived the Archibald Sofa System as an evolution of his Archibald armchair, extending its vocabulary of organic form and precision stitching into a fully modular seating architecture. The proportions are generous without excess, and the padding invites repose without sacrificing the silhouette's discipline.
Taut upholstered surfaces meet rounded volumes in a studied contrast that defines the collection's visual identity. The signature stitching, carried over from the original armchair, reads as both structural detail and graphic gesture. Feet are set back behind the frame, giving the sofa a quality of quiet suspension above the floor.
The load-bearing structure combines birch plywood with a steel frame. Backrests and armrests are padded in polyurethane foam layered with polyester wadding for a soft but resilient hand. Upholstery is available in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric, with removable covers offered in select configurations.
