BM1160 Hunting Table

Børge Mogensen designed the BM1160 Hunting Table for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Furniture Exhibition in 1950, where it anchored a "Hunting Cabin" installation. The theme was not merely decorative - it shaped every decision Mogensen made about proportion, material, and construction.

The table is built in solid walnut with an oil finish that preserves the grain's depth and allows the wood to develop character with use. Rounded corners and softened edges speak to Mogensen's commitment to furniture that belongs equally in daily life and in considered interiors. Two diagonal brass brace bars connect the legs beneath the top, introducing a structural element that also reads as a compositional one - metal and wood in calibrated dialogue.

At 210 cm long and 82 cm wide, the top is intentionally narrower than a conventional dining table. This restraint is a virtue: the proportion encourages conversation across the table while fitting rooms that would not accommodate a more generous span.

• Solid walnut construction with oil finish
• Diagonal brass brace bars for structural stability
• Mortise and tenon joinery throughout
• Rounded corners and edges for durability and comfort
• Designed for frequent, everyday use

Produced by Carl Hansen & Søn, the BM1160 carries forward Mogensen's conviction that good design is not a privilege - it is a practice.
