Atlas 500 Indigo nasce da un dialogo costante tra Barber Osgerby e i tessitori di Kasthall, un dialogo in cui il telaio stesso è stato trattato come un collaboratore. Invece di imporre un motivo sulla superficie, il design permette alla meccanica della tessitura di determinarne la texture e il ritmo. Il risultato è un tappeto la cui profondità non deriva dalla decorazione, ma dalla costruzione.
La struttura a doppia trama conferisce ad Atlas una presenza fisica consistente, solida e architettonica nel suo peso. I fili di ordito visibili introducono una sottile animazione alla superficie, catturando la luce da diverse angolazioni e rivelando la geometria interna dell'intreccio. La colorazione indaco amplifica questo effetto, la sua gamma tonale che varia dal quasi nero al blu a seconda dell'ora e della fonte di luce.
