A Floor Lamp

Aust & Amelung approached light as a question of equilibrium. The Balance Lamp translates that idea into a physical mechanism: an ash wood arm pivots on a painted steel base, held in tension by a sand-filled counterweight on one end and a cotton fabric lampshade on the other.
The counterweight moves to four distinct positions along the arm, shifting the height and angle of the light source without buttons, cords, or digital interfaces. The adjustment is immediate and tactile, closer to the logic of a steelyard than a conventional floor lamp.
