Chalet Aspen, a masterpiece of luxury and elegance in Aspen, awarded Mountain Living’s House of the Year.
Set within the storied ski community of Aspen, Colorado, Chalet Aspen reads as a considered exercise in alpine residential design. The property took two years to complete and was recognized with Mountain Living's House of the Year award, a recognition that reflects both the depth of the design and the standard of execution. The owners, longtime admirers of Italian culture and design, worked closely with Interni and the architectural practice HFG Design, Inc. to assemble a bespoke program of furnishings and finishes, all sourced from Italy, anchoring the residence in the vocabulary of Italian interiors.
The interiors are governed by a warm and neutral palette of white, beige, brown, and gray, calibrated to complement the chalet's timber architecture and the surrounding mountain landscape. Natural materials, wood, marble, and leather among them, hold the balance between warmth and refinement, while metal accents introduce a contemporary register. Each room reflects a deliberate layering of textures conceived to support both comfort and atmosphere. The program pairs pieces from leading houses with custom elements, including a tailored dressing room and a fully equipped kitchen by Officine Gullo. The kitchen is organized around a generous timber island with seating and a dining nook composed of a table and armchairs, including the GellyPouf by Henge.
In the dining room, a round table is surrounded by Frank chairs by Porro in beige tones. On the patio, Levante chairs by Exteta are arranged around a marble table, sited for the views. The principal bedroom features the Fante table by Gallotti&Radice and two Rudi Loop 02 lamps by Roll & Hill set beside the bed. Further pieces specified throughout the chalet include the Bolle Stelo lamp by Gallotti&Radice, the Voilà table by Ivano Redaelli, the Altea console and Calix table by Baxter, and the Vossia chair by Ceccotti Collezioni.
Beyond the principal living spaces, the chalet includes a dedicated cinema and an entertainment room furnished with the 90° Minuto foosball table by Giorgetti in crystal and leather, paired with the Albero bookcase by Poltrona Frau and the Panama Bold sofa by Baxter. Every dimension of the house has been calibrated to serve the rhythms of daily life and to host friends and family with ease.
Chalet Aspen reads less as a residence than as a study in restraint and craft. Through Interni's coordination, HFG Design, Inc.'s attention to detail, and a shared commitment to Italian design, the chalet brings the character of the Colorado Rockies into measured dialogue with the Italian interior tradition.
