Marcio Kogan

Nato nel 1952 | Brazil

Marcio Kogan is a Brazilian architect and designer born in São Paulo in 1952. He graduated from the School of Architecture and Urbanism at Mackenzie Presbyterian University in 1976 and began his career moving between architecture and cinema, an unusual combination that helped shape the visual clarity and narrative sensibility of his later work. He is the son of engineer-architect Aron Kogan, a prominent figure in mid-century São Paulo construction.

Kogan later became internationally recognized through Studio MK27, the São Paulo practice he founded in the late 1970s and developed into one of Brazil's most influential contemporary studios. His work is especially admired for its clean horizontal lines, restrained palettes, strong indoor-outdoor relationships, and a refined use of light, shade, and natural ventilation. Across residential architecture, interiors, and design objects, he brings together Brazilian modernist sensibility, climatic intelligence, and a calm, highly resolved sense of luxury. Studio MK27's work has earned broad international recognition, while Kogan himself was named an Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects in 2011.
