La lámpara Domo fue diseñada originalmente por el diseñador italiano Joe Colombo en 1965. En aquel entonces, diseñó tres lámparas basadas en la misma forma central. Conocido por su diseño democrático y funcional, sus muebles flexibles y convertibles estaban pensados para múltiples usos, siempre en beneficio del usuario. Joe Colombo experimentó con nuevos materiales y las últimas tecnologías, diseñando futuristas "máquinas para vivir", muchas de las cuales se han convertido en iconos de una nueva forma de vida. Una de ellas es Domo. Colombo solía rechazar las esquinas pronunciadas y las líneas rectas en favor de formas curvilíneas.
