Cancer is a disease that has touched every family at least once. Donating to cancer research is pivotal to the fight against cancer as it improves the lives of millions now and in the future. Since 2006, Luminaire has been supporting cancer research through design-driven fundraising initiatives. These initiatives were prompted by our co-founder’s Nargis Kassmali’s 30-year struggle with 5 different incidents of cancer. This year, Luminaire was the proud sponsor of the St. Jude Dream House Showplace that supports the mission of finding a cure and saving children with cancer. Luminaire donated $90,000 worth of design pieces to a beautiful home in Illinois where 100% of the profits from the sale of the furnished house will be donated to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Through these initiatives, families will continue to receive free St. Jude treatment, travel, housing and food. St. Jude Children’s Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer. Other philanthropic endeavors include Luminaire’s innovative fundraising “LOVE” series, where we reach out to the design community’s help to find creative ways to support the fight against cancer. In December of 2015, we will host GLASLOVE, the fourth edition of the Love series to auction unique glass pieces for the same cause. For the past 42 years, Luminaire has proven to be a leader in design, emphasizing that it is not simply a product, but an experience that changes how one approaches the world. Luminaire is proud and looks forward to continuing to make a significant contribution to cancer research.
