Hiroi
Made by Cappellini
Hiroi is the product of a dialogue between two materials and two designers. Created by Czech duo Cyril Dunděra and Matěj Janský, the armchair distills form to its essentials: a solid ash wood structure, arched with quiet precision, and a seat and backrest upholstered in saddle leather.
The ash frame is available in three finishes: bleached, oak-stained, and black-stained. Each reading changes the piece's atmosphere without altering its geometry. The leather comes in five colours, allowing the composition to shift from warm and natural to spare and graphic.
What the eye reads as simplicity conceals considerable skill. The pronounced arc of the backrest and seat demands exact control over the wood's bend and the leather's tension. The result holds its shape with a calm confidence.
Dunděra and Janský represent a generation of Central European designers working within a rigorous formal tradition. Hiroi, introduced through Cappellini in 2021, reflects their sensibility: compact, resolved, and made to be lived with over time.
