Flash
Made by Davide Groppi
Designed by Davide Groppi
Flash begins where most lighting ends. Rather than spreading across a ceiling plane, it falls, sending a 9 mm stainless-steel strip downward in a single, unbroken vertical line. The gesture is at once architectural and almost imperceptible in width, a reduction of form to its minimum necessary expression.
Light flows the full length of the strip, washing surfaces below with directness and calm. The scale is deliberate: Flash was conceived for environments where height is the defining condition, double-volume residences, atria, civic interiors, and the rare domestic room where a conventional fixture would simply vanish.
- 9 mm wide stainless-steel strip construction
- Available in 6 or 12 meter standard lengths
- Designed for direct illumination in high-ceiling environments
- Suitable for both indoor and select outdoor applications
Davide Groppi's studio, based in Piacenza, has spent decades distilling light to its essential act. Flash is a continuation of that practice, a vertical counterpoint to the horizontal Infinito, and a reminder that a line, held with enough conviction, becomes an object.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ceiling height is recommended for the Flash?
Flash is engineered specifically for high-ceiling environments, with standard lengths of 6 and 12 meters. It performs best in double-volume residences, atria, and civic or hospitality interiors where the vertical drop can be expressed fully, typically in spaces of 4 meters or more.
How does Flash relate to the Davide Groppi Infinito?
Flash is a vertical reinterpretation of the Infinito, which runs horizontally across a ceiling plane. Where Infinito extends outward, Flash descends, using the same reduction of form to a single illuminated line but reorienting the spatial gesture by 90 degrees.
What material is the Flash strip made from?
The strip is constructed from stainless steel, just 9 mm wide, which gives the fixture its architectural precision and minimal visual footprint. The material also suits select outdoor applications where durability under environmental exposure is a consideration.
Can the Flash be used in outdoor settings?
Yes. Flash is listed for both indoor and outdoor applications, making it appropriate for covered exterior spaces such as porticos, entrance halls open to the elements, or sheltered atria, provided installation conditions are reviewed with a qualified specifier.
Is Flash available in custom lengths beyond 6 and 12 meters?
The standard configurations are 6 and 12 meters. For projects requiring a different length, the piece is available as a made-to-order item, and specifications should be confirmed directly through a design professional or a design expert.
