Flash
Made by Davide Groppi
Designed by Davide Groppi
Flash begins where most lighting ends. Rather than spreading across a ceiling plane, it falls, sending a 9 mm stainless-steel strip downward in a single, unbroken vertical line. The gesture is at once architectural and almost imperceptible in width, a reduction of form to its minimum necessary expression.
Light flows the full length of the strip, washing surfaces below with directness and calm. The scale is deliberate: Flash was conceived for environments where height is the defining condition, double-volume residences, atria, civic interiors, and the rare domestic room where a conventional fixture would simply vanish.
- 9 mm wide stainless-steel strip construction
- Available in 6 or 12 meter standard lengths
- Designed for direct illumination in high-ceiling environments
- Suitable for both indoor and select outdoor applications
Davide Groppi's studio, based in Piacenza, has spent decades distilling light to its essential act. Flash is a continuation of that practice, a vertical counterpoint to the horizontal Infinito, and a reminder that a line, held with enough conviction, becomes an object.

Frequently Asked Questions
What spaces is the Davide Groppi Flash designed for?
Flash is conceived for interiors with very high ceilings, such as double-volume residences, loft spaces, atriums, and institutional or commercial environments where conventional pendant fixtures lack the scale to make an impact. Its vertical drop of up to 12 meters makes it particularly suited to dramatic architectural volumes.
What is the maximum length of the Flash lighting strip?
Flash is available in standard lengths of 6 or 12 meters. The 9 mm wide stainless-steel strip can reach up to 12 meters in a single unbroken run, accommodating spaces of considerable vertical depth.
How does Flash relate to Davide Groppi's Infinito fixture?
Flash is a gravitational reinterpretation of the Infinito model. Where Infinito runs horizontally, tracing the ceiling plane, Flash orients the same stainless-steel strip vertically, directing light downward and introducing a distinct sense of tension and depth in tall spaces.
What is Davide Groppi's design philosophy?
Davide Groppi's studio, based in Piacenza, Italy, works from a principle of radical reduction. Each fixture is stripped to the minimum form capable of producing its intended effect, prioritizing the quality and atmosphere of the light itself over the visibility of the object producing it.
Is the Flash fixture suitable for outdoor installation?
Flash carries tags indicating suitability for both indoor and outdoor contexts. For specific installation environments and IP rating requirements, specification details should be confirmed with an authorized representative, as outdoor suitability depends on the precise conditions of the project.
