Chiara Armchair & Ottoman
Made by Edra
Francesco Binfaré has spent decades asking how furniture might meet the body with greater intelligence. The Chiara Armchair is one of his quietest answers.
Its silhouette is spare, almost elemental. Beneath that restraint lives a "smart" cushion that reads the sitter's posture and conforms gently to the backrest without mechanical intervention - no levers, no adjustments, no visible apparatus. The chair simply responds.
The swivel base, finished in brushed and glossy chrome-plated nickel, allows the chair to turn freely within a room, shifting its relationship to light, view, and conversation at will. Structure is tubular steel and extruded aluminum, precise in its engineering and honest in its intention.
- Adaptive cushion system for continuous postural support
- Swiveling pedestal in brushed, glossy chrome-plated nickel
- Tubular steel and extruded aluminum frame
- Coordinating ottoman for extended repose
The ottoman extends the dialogue, inviting a fuller sense of rest and a more considered relationship with the body's weight. Together, the two pieces form a complete composition rather than a simple seating arrangement.
