The CH445 Wing Chair is one of Hans J. Wegner's most sculptural statements in upholstered form. Its high, enveloping back and deeply considered proportions reflect a designer who understood that comfort and silhouette are never in opposition.
Beneath the upholstery lies a solid beech frame, giving the chair both structural integrity and a foundation for the precise shaping of each cushioned surface. The stainless steel legs anchor the piece with an industrial clarity that contrasts deliberately with the warmth of the upholstered body.
Wegner approached every chair as a problem of the body, not merely of aesthetics. The seat depth, backrest angle, and density of the padding in the CH445 were each resolved to support the full length of the spine. The result reads as drama; the intention was always ease.
