Since | Belgium

Belgian designer Anna Torfs established her studio in the early 2000s after relocating to the Czech Republic in the 1990s, where she immersed herself in the region’s renowned glassmaking tradition. In 2002 she created her first glass collection, a moment that set the foundation for a practice defined by the poetic interplay of color, geometry and light. Working closely with master glassblowers, cutters and polishers, Torfs explores glass as a material capable of absorbing, refracting and revealing depth, often slicing through forms like an anatomist to expose layered structures and vibrant cores beneath tranquil surfaces. Each piece is handmade, shaped through traditional techniques that have changed little in two centuries yet reinterpreted through her contemporary lens. Today, together with Dries Coppens, she has built a globally recognized brand celebrated for objects that feel both sculptural and intimate, each one a singular expression of craftsmanship and luminous materiality.
