What originally opened as a small shop on Columbus Avenue in North Beach has grown to become beacon for good design in the San Francisco region. Founded by Eve Forbord in 2004 as DZINE, the showroom has evolved into a 15,000 square foot space that features a rotating curation of design and objects from around the world. The company creates a unique opportunity for communication and creative exchange by bridging these worlds through its showroom events that include lectures and exhibitions, making the cutting edge of design accessible to everyone. DZINE seeks to inspire through its ability to stay abreast of current trends while offering products that are truly timeless.

Expanding its industry-leading position as a center of design education and exploration, Luminaire has integrated DZINE into its family in 2021. DZINE’s integration brings an exceptional collection of knowledge, experience, and relationships to Luminaire while expanding its footprint to one of the country’s most important design markets in San Francisco.

Luminaire and DZINE’s missions were founded on the belief that design has the power to affect one’s environment and enrich lives. Operating as Luminaire, the combined team will continue that mission on an expanded and powerful journey, one which will challenge and change the landscape of high-end design-focused retail in the US and beyond.
