The Newood Relax is an evolution of Cappellini's Newood Chair, designed by studio BrogliatoTraverso and introduced in 2019. Where the original stood as a pure exercise in structure, the Relax extends the conversation: a padded, upholstered seat joins the solid ash framework, softening the silhouette without compromising its underlying discipline.
BrogliatoTraverso's approach draws from the Windsor chair, one of the most enduring archetypes in Western furniture history. Rather than quoting it directly, the design distills its logic: a fanned arrangement of ash spindles, a considered verticality, and the quiet authority of honest wood. The ash base is available in the same curated range of hues as the original Newood, allowing both pieces to coexist or stand alone with equal confidence.
The fixed upholstered seat is offered in fabrics and leathers from the Cappellini collection, giving the piece a range of expression without altering its essential character. The result is a chair that moves comfortably between the domestic and the institutional, between the contemporary and the historical.
