Edison's Nightmare è una collaborazione tra Davide Groppi e il designer britannico Harry Thaler, concepito sia come oggetto d'illuminazione che come provocazione culturale.
La lampadina a incandescenza, un tempo simbolo universale di invenzione e modernità, è montata direttamente sulla parete con un gesto ironico ed elegiaco allo stesso tempo. L'approccio di Thaler è caratteristicamente sobrio: nessun apparecchio, nessuna paralume, nessuna cornice. L'oggetto parla interamente da sé. La parete diventa la tela e la lampadina diventa il soggetto.
Il pezzo opera al confine tra luce funzionale e installazione artistica. Carica una stanza di un'atmosfera specifica, radicata nella nostalgia e nell'ingegno, dove il profondamente familiare viene reso strano attraverso il contesto e l'intento.
