Disegnata da Carlo Mollino nel 1949, la scrivania Cavour si distingue come una delle espressioni più riuscite della sua sensibilità architettonica. Mollino, la cui attività spaziava dal design di mobili alla fotografia, dall'aviazione allo sci, affrontava ogni oggetto come un problema strutturale da risolvere con rigore e poesia.
Le gambe della scrivania in massello di rovere o noce Canaletto articolano un dinamismo organico che appare quasi scheletrico, un contrasto deliberato con la calma geometria dei volumi contenitori e del piano scrittura in vetro. Un vassoio estraibile a giorno e un elemento cassetto sono impiallacciati con finiture che si abbinano alle gambe, preservando la continuità materica che Mollino richiedeva per ogni dettaglio.
