Ogni pendente della Serie 141 nasce da un gesto. Due mestoli di vetro fuso vengono versati a mano libera su un'asta d'acciaio curva, e la forma che ne risulta è del tutto unica: fluida, leggermente cinematica, che si apre verso l'esterno in un modo che nessun processo potrebbe prevedere o replicare. Una volta che il vetro si raffredda e si solidifica, l'asta viene rimossa e sostituita con una fonte di luce LED, così l'oggetto emerso da un caso controllato diventa il ricettacolo della luce.
Omer Arbel ha fondato Bocci a Vancouver nel 2005, e ha a lungo trattato la fornace del vetraio come un luogo di voluta incertezza. La Serie 141 continua questa pratica con una qualità che sembra particolarmente scultorea. How is the Bocci 141 Series pendant made?
Each pendant is formed by pouring two ladlefuls of molten glass freehand over a curved steel rod. The rod is removed after the glass cools, and an LED light source is installed in its place. Because no mold is used, every pendant is a unique object.
