Ryuichi Kozeki

Nato nel 1977 | Japan

Ryuichi Kozeki is a Tokyo-based Japanese designer whose work is defined by restraint, clarity, and a thoughtful sensitivity to how objects enrich daily life. He studied space and interior design at Tama Art University, a background that continues to inform his strong architectural sense of form, proportion, and atmosphere. After graduating, he worked in the office of product designer Toshiyuki Kita, gaining experience across multiple phases of the design process before establishing his own studio, RKDS, in 2011.

Kozeki's work is especially admired for bringing a calm, quietly expressive character to product design. Ambientec, one of his most visible collaborators, presents him as a designer who sees design as the discovery and renewal of value, an idea reflected in lighting pieces such as Xtal, Bottled, and Torr. His Xtal collection, launched in 2015, has become particularly well known for transforming crystal glass, reflected light, and technical precision into a portable lamp of remarkable delicacy and presence. Across his work, Kozeki combines Japanese refinement with contemporary simplicity, creating objects that feel both exacting and deeply atmospheric.
