Prospero Rasulo

Prospero Rasulo

Nato nel 1953 | Italy

Prospero Rasulo was born in Stigliano di Matera, Italy, in 1953. He studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and began his professional practice in 1980, working across painting, sculpture, scenography, and the design of public and private spaces. His artistic training established the multidisciplinary perspective that continues to define his work, particularly his interest in the sensory qualities of surfaces, forms, and contrasting materials.

During the early 1980s, Rasulo collaborated with Studio Alchimia and Alessandro Mendini on experimental projects including Redesign and Oggetto Banale. In 1987, he founded Oxido in Milan as a gallery and studio dedicated to art, architecture, and design, later developing furniture and object collections under the same name. Alongside unique pieces, sculpture, and jewelry, he has created industrial designs for companies including Zanotta, FIAM, Foscarini, Poltronova, Antonio Lupi, Fabbian, Gessi, Rosenthal, and Valdama. His work maintains a close dialogue between usefulness and artistic communication, giving familiar objects a distinctive symbolic and tactile presence.

My design and my artistic impressions are not limited to a market. It is my way of communicating to the world that an object of use can also become a symbolic way of living better.
