Maurici Ginés

Maurici Ginés was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1970. After studying engineering and architecture, he traveled to Argentina to deepen his knowledge of lighting design at a time when formal education in the discipline was limited in Spain. He began his professional career in 1994 with a project for the Museum of Science in Barcelona, developing an approach that considers light as both a technical instrument and a means of shaping emotion, perception, and architectural character.

In 1998, Ginés founded Artec Studio in Barcelona as an independent lighting design practice. The studio now works internationally across architectural lighting, daylight, product design, and light art, with projects spanning cultural, residential, hospitality, retail, urban, and landscape environments. His work has received distinctions including the IALD Award of Excellence, German Design Award, Grand Laus, and the ADI-FAD Golden Delta for the Palco Low Voltage collection developed with iGuzzini. Ginés also co-founded the Professional Association of Lighting Designers of Spain and has contributed extensively to lighting design education.
