Front

Front is a Swedish design studio founded in Stockholm in 2004. The studio was originally established by Sofia Lagerkvist, Anna Lindgren, Charlotte von der Lancken, and Katja Pettersson after their studies at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. Today, Front is led by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren, who continue to develop the studio's work through a collaborative process based on discussion, exploration, and experimentation from the initial idea to the finished object.

Front became internationally recognized for a practice that questions the design process itself. Official and brand profiles describe projects in which animals, computers, or machines were invited to participate in the making of objects, turning process into a visible and often narrative part of the final result. Over the years, the studio has collaborated with major international brands including Moooi, Vitra, Moroso, Kartell, and IKEA, while its work has entered museum collections such as MoMA, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Vitra Design Museum. Their objects often communicate something about how they were made, about the material they are made from, or about conventions within design itself, giving the studio a distinctive voice that feels both playful and intellectually sharp.
