The work of architect and designer Antonio Citterio is easy to recognize, not only because his clean aesthetic is distinctive but because his design makes one feel uniquely enlightened and intrigued. His use of angular lines and clean space is calming, even comfortably peaceful, yet interacting with his work is exhilarating in its tactility and ease of use.
Simple modernism underscored by playfulness in fact revives the spirit of Charles and Ray Eames, the mid-century design duo who most inspires Citterio and his work. Since the mid-sixties, Citterio has engaged in a close, mutually supportive relationship with B&B Italia, designing numerous products and installations alongside the company. A skilled architect, Citterio also builds compelling structures. Architectural projects include Bulgari Hotels in Milan and Bali and industrial plants for Vitra.
At Luminaire, we have learned quite a lot from our dear friend. We welcomed Citterio as the Guest of Honor for the opening of Luminaire Chicago (1989) as well as in Miami for many more engaging events. Additionally, Citterio generously designed two one-of-a-kind pieces for our Love series, both PuppyLove (2006) and PaperLove (2008), in order to help raise funds for cancer research.
We welcome you to Luminaire to experience our collection of Citterio’s breathtaking designs.
