“A great little product. An article that gives an intelligent answer to an objective need.”

Recently receiving the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award Emanuele Pizzolorusso’s Lucetta is a magnetic bike light with a clever and simple design. The “great little product” was inspired after the Helsinki-based designer Pizzolorusso observed a cyclist who was often troubled by bike light malfunctions. The radically innovative and functional object features a sleek set of small LED lights that secure to your bicycle using magnets.

Easy to attach to any bike, the two small lights – 1 red and 1 white – switch on with just a click and are guaranteed to stay securely in place even on the bumpiest street. You can select a steady beam, a slow or fast flashing light by simply clicking the light on the bike. When you reach your destination, remove the lights, join them together and slip them in your pocket ready for your next outing. Click here to view a video.

Established in 1954, ADI Compasso d’Oro Award is the oldest and most influential international design award. The mastermind behind the award is the famed Italian architect Gio Ponti. It was his idea to create the industrial design award to pick up the value and quality of Italian design products. Today, the Compasso d’Oro is a prestigious award that recognized the Lucetta Magnetic Bike light with a impressive tribute highlighting the value of simplicity as a form of sophistication. Lucetta is available via Luminaire’s online store.
