For its third installment of Design+World at Art Basel/Design Miami 2013, Luminaire renewed its commitment to the promotion of good design and education. The exhibition, Design+World, took a comprehensive and expansive approach of how today’s designers are interpreting materials, technologies, production methods, and their environments to create work that expands on the traditional boundaries of design. Luminaire Lab transformed into a design laboratory where the public interacted and explored new concepts in design. Highlighting these various approaches were longtime friends and collaborators as well as new emerging and energetic designers. Luminaire proudly welcomed new projects by the talented Tokujin Yoshioka and Patricia Urquiola; explored the Culture of Glass with Nao Tamura, Fabrica, and a specially curated private collection; furthered design education with a Phaidon partnership; and welcomed the innovative views of Daniel Widrig and sculptural designs of the Kuwasawa Design School.
