Design Market: Luminaire Lab

Luminaire Lab’s mission is to be an investigative playground that encourages visitors to think creatively about design.

A deviation from the traditional showroom, Luminaire Lab’s mission is to be an investigative playground that encourages visitors to think creatively about design. It is fitting, then, that the store’s newest concept features a mix of Luminaire’s best products set within constructed cubes, showcasing stylized living situations and displaying how designed environments can affect people’s lives.

From the moment one steps inside the Design District location, visitors experience carefully selected products that co-exist to create a living area, dining area and bedroom. In this regard, the showroom is a laboratory the brings objects to life through their respective vignettes.

Scattered around the cubes are platforms displaying individual objects that highlight some of the best designs from Luminaire’s wide-ranging collection. New products from manufacturers including MDF Italia and Established & Sons mix with design icons from the likes of Eero Saarinen, Shiro Kuramata and Harry Bertoia. These objects will change over time and will periodically be updated to bring visitors the best in contemporary design.

In addition to furniture products, the Lab’s accessory department has been refreshed to showcase new objects such as Jean-Marie Massaud’s glass containers for Glas Italia and selected pieces from Belgium glass artist Anna Torf’s latest collection.
