Appropriately named Illusion, Jean-Marie Massaud’s series of tables utilizes innovative glass processing techniques to fabricate a surface that gradates from mirrored to clear resulting in a disarming optical effect. Surprisingly playful, the tables create illusions of depth and light in a vibrant and striking manner. The spacial relationship of surrounding objects is precariously distorted due to the simultaneous reflection and transparency of the glass table.
Produced by Glas Italia, the company has been pioneering new techniques since its formation in the 1970s. Throughout its history, Glas Italia has collaborated with numerous world-renowned designers. Each designer is given freedom to experiment with his or her designs and is encouraged to push the boundaries of what is thought possible in terms of glass production.
