A timeless classic, the Franco Albini Ottoman designed by the pioneer Italian architect for whom it bears its name, is a multi-purpose and versatile piece made of ecologically sustainable rattan, the thin pliable stems of palms. An elegant and artistic piece of fine craftsmanship, the ottoman is distinguished by its spherical shape and linear nest-like design. Manufactured by one of the oldest Scandinavian producers of rattan and wicker furniture, Sika Design takes pride in creating quality and sustainable products for over 70 years.

Exuding palpable texture, the classic Franco Albini Ottoman was designed by the Italian architect Franco Albini in 1951 and won three Compasso d’Oro awards, the most prestigious Italian design prize. Albini is renowned for creating other iconic pieces such as the Margherita and Gala chairs that are now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, NY (MoMA).

Comfort, quality and sustainability are the three main pillars of Sika Design. Their handmade and woven pieces blend traditional craftsmanship skills with new modern aesthetics and techniques. Founded in 1942 by Ankjaer Andreasen in Denmark, Sika’s pieces exude a distinctive Scandinavian minimalism and way of living. Renowned for their wicker and rattan materials, Sika’s pieces are all ecologically friendly and sustainable. Sika Design pieces are available via our online store and are on display at Luminaire Lab, our Miami Design District location.
