On Thursday, May 12th, Luminaire celebrated two prolific women in architecture and design ahead of their times – Zaha Hadid and Lina Bo Bardi with a presentation of some of their works. Unlike many conventional designers, both Hadid and Bo Bardi felt architecture should not just be a formal and visual expression, but also a place for the staging of life. A spirit of experimentation transcended the boundaries of their practice.

The grand dame of architecture Zaha Hadid passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016. In honor of her incredible achievements, we exhibited some of her designs from our collection such as the Moon sofa and the Aqua table that silently speak of her mastery.

On display were limited editions of Lina Bo Bardi’s Bowl chair by Arper – an extraordinary creative collaboration that interpreted a unique project from the past. Designed in 1951 by Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi, the Bardi’s Bowl Chair was conceived with an essential frame, and universal shape that harmoniously blends into every environment.

The crowd of over 175 design enthusiasts appreciated the works of these 2 remarkable women remembering their contribution to the design community and their role in enriching people’s lives with their architecture and design.

At Luminaire, we are honored to have collaborated with great minds, the likes of Zaha Hadid and Lina Bo Bardi, to bring good design to the public.
