Continually evolving, Luminaire proudly added Cassina to its roster of manufacturers in April 1994. The only producer of authentic Le Corbusier furniture, Cassina also manufactures works by Frank Lloyd Wright, Vico Magistretti, Yoshiyuki Kita and Andrea Branzi. And to celebrate joining forces with Cassina, Luminaire displayed work by all of these designers in an exhibition that highlighted the intelligence and eclecticism collection.

Works on display included Le Corbusier’s LC2 armchair with the steel frame and polyurethane/polyester cushions, a design icon included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Magistretti’s Maralunga armchair, designed in 1973, also showcased its movable headrest in the showroom, while Kita’s Saruyama wowed visitors with its unique, commanding structure.

Over the years, Cassina has defined a new industrial model, with the ability to meld very diverse personalities from different historical and cultural backgrounds and imbue them with the same design philosophy. Visitors to the Cassina exhibition witnessed a progression of design history while experiencing what makes a work useful and visually magnificent even decades after it was first conceived.
