Piero Castiglioni knows lighting. His first lighting designs were created in 1973 in collaboration with his father Livo, and he continued on his own after his father passed in 1979, designing pieces for art exhibitions, boutiques and shopping centers, showrooms, hotels, offices, and residences. With projects in Italy, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Switzerland, and the United States, Castiglioni’s elegant work has shined brilliance on a myriad of sites all over the world.
At Luminaire Piero Castiglioni’s lecture on ‘the Architecture and Technology behind Modern Lighting’ provided a refreshing focus to design practice and philosophy. An architect by training, Castiglioni creates lighting that works in concert with the surrounding environment, creating a poetic atmosphere and allowing users to experience the space as a whole while they admire the quiet grace of his work’s aesthetic.
At the Coral Gables showroom, guests gained a heightened understanding of the importance of lighting design to the experience of personal and public spaces.
