On Friday, December 8, Luminaire Lab came alive for an evening of community, dialogue, and connections during Looking Glass, an open house celebrating the relaunch of our Design District location on the occasion of Miami Art Week 2023 in partnership with Lasvit and Surface Magazine.
The evening event also commemorated the unveiling of Dancing Leaves, a site-specific version of the iconic glass sculpture by Lasvit hosted in the showroom's windows along NE 39th Street. Once inside, as guests made their way to the second level, tree-house-like showroom to gather and mingle, they experienced an immersive lighting element from Bocci within the staircase.
Upstairs, Luminaire's reimagined experiential destination for the curious was lively, with guests enjoying custom engraved glass pieces of Dancing Leaves from Lasvit. At the same time, a DJ elevated the energy, creating a festive and joyous experience for those in attendance.
The space showcases the breadth of Luminaire's collection and highlights its commitment to creating experiences that showcase how good design can affect lives. Each object — from large architectural interventions from Porro to sculptural objects from independent artisans, from vignettes that highlighted the beauty and ritual of bathing by Agape to the selection of volumes presented in the bookshop library — told a cohesive story about living with design and invited curiosity, intrigue, and interaction from the evening's guests.
Luminaire Lab is located at 201 NE 39th Street in Miami's Design District. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 10a-6p. The installation of Lasvit's Dancing Leaves will be on show through early 2024.
