For more than 25 years, Luminaire’s focus had been to create environments that affect people’s lives. To celebrated this mission, Luminaire proudly unveiled the exhibition ‘Good Design: At Work, At Home’ during the 2001 Chicago Design Show.

As more than 50,000 people arrived in Chicago to celebrate design in all it’s permutations, Luminaire presented a varied selection of work to the public, all of which emulated a harmony in both aesthetic and function. Alongside Luminaire product were selected pieces from design-driven companies, such as Bang and Olufsen’s BeoSound 1 CD Player and Hammacher Schlemer’s Robomower.

Bang and Olufsen is one of the world’s strongest brands built on more than 80 years of Danish craftsmanship and innovation, and Hammacher Schlemer has been bring innovative ideas to the world since before the Civil War. By partnering with established pioneers like these two firms, Luminaire illustrated that design is part of a larger social dialogue, one that continuously evolves and is nourished and enhanced by all participants.

Visitors gained a deep appreciation for the role design plays in our personal and public lives and envisioned how their input can contribute to the future development of good design.
