“On December 3rd, during Design Miami 2009, Luminaire opened it’s Miami Design District showroom to a crowd of over 600 guests. Featured was The Third Space installation concepted by German design students, Artek’s 10-unit system by Shigeru Ban, an enticing new fragrance by Comme des Garçons and Artek. And an exclusive, world premier viewing of personal videos from renowned designers posing the question: “How has design changed the world?”.
Visitors walked around in wonderment as they discovered The Third Space cocoon like structures were actually playful seating. Artek’s 10 unit modular seating system became a popular spot to sit and take in the festive atmosphere. People were lined up to watch the exclusive premiere of the home videos from world renowned visionaries such as Massimo Vignelli, Yves Behar, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Paola Lenti.
Among the enthusiasts joining this evening were design luminaries such as Vincent Van duysen, Yves Behar, Richard Wright, Tom Dixon, and the Art Institutes of Chicago’s new Modern Wing curators Joe Rosa and Zoe Ryan.
