Design Miami emerged as design.05 in 2005 as the global forum for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating design. Held at the same time as Art Basel Miami Beach, Design Miami draws on the art community elite already in Miami during its showing while at the same time introducing many design luminaries to the Miami Design District.
During Design Miami 2006, Luminaire proudly presented the custom pieces of four world renown designers at Luminaire Contract. \”Galactic Transporter\” by chaos-loving Arne Quinze, \”Kaiman in Red\” by the socially-conscious Campana Brothers, \”Origami\” by fashion designer Elke Walter, and a \”Floating Wall of Porcelain\” by thoughtful and prolific Piet Stockmans wowed visitors from all over the world while introducing them to the some of the most provocative new work in contemporary design.
