As the Salone del Mobile quickly approaches, Luminaire celebrates twelve years as the only US sponsor of the Design Report Award. In addition to supporting these awards since their inception, Nasir Kassamali also served as a judge at the very first presentation along with other prominent design luminaries including Ross Lovegrove, Konstantin Grcic and Matali Crasset.
Each year up-and-coming independent designers as well as selected design schools from all over the world present new work at the Salone Satellite, and one talented newcomer is hand picked by an international jury of established designers. Luminaire has long believed in the imagination of young talent; they promise innovative design that both speaks to people emotionally and provokes new ways of thinking.
In the spirit of this mission, Luminaire invited Nao Tamura, last year’s Design Report Award winner, to create a site-specific installation at transFORM. The response was breathtaking.
On April 14, Luminaire once again awaits the discovery of new talent that will inspire a legacy of life-changing design.
