Orient™ Pendant - P2, Ø 340 mm

Jo Hammerborg conceived the Orient pendant in 1963, at a moment when Scandinavian design was shaping the global conversation around form and light. The pendant's curved silhouette is not decorative for its own sake - it exists to gather and redirect light downward in a soft, glareless wash that shifts the atmosphere of a room without calling attention to the fixture itself.

Fritz Hansen relaunched the Orient in 2013 with revised materials that honour the original while speaking to contemporary sensibilities. The P2 sits at 340 mm in diameter, a scale that reads with confidence above a dining table or kitchen counter yet remains proportionate in more intimate settings.

Three distinct expressions are available:

• Stained ash with matt black aluminium, a modern restatement of the original colourway
• Scandinavian oak with silver aluminium, bringing a warmer, Nordic restraint to the form
• Copper with stained ash, where the metal's inherent warmth deepens over time

Each version is finished by hand. The top shell in wood and the lower body in spun aluminium are joined with a precision that keeps the seam clean and the silhouette unbroken. Hammerborg's design philosophy held that a pendant should be as considered from above as from below - a discipline that shaped every detail of the Orient.
