Dominoni and Quaquaro began by inverting a chair form, reinterpreting its ladder-back structure as a series of horizontal rails for hanging garments and accessories. The concept transforms a recognizable domestic silhouette into an object with an entirely new function.

Annalisa Dominoni and Benedetto Quaquaro are a Milan-based design duo working under the name (a+b). Their practice spans product design and research, with a particular focus on objects that question inherited domestic typologies.

The Mate is available in a powder-coated white or black finish, applied to a square tubular steel frame. The powder-coat process provides both durability and a consistent matte surface quality.

Its compact, geometric footprint makes it well suited to entryways, bedrooms, or dressing areas. The spare frame holds coats, bags, and folded garments without visually overwhelming a space.

Living Divani, founded in Anzano del Parco in the Italian Brianza region, has long collaborated with designers who approach familiar domestic forms with a conceptual sensibility. The brand's collection spans sofas, shelving, and accessories, consistently prioritizing restraint and precision of form.
