Litos
Made by Cappellini
Designed by Sebastian Herkner
The Litos sofa system takes its name and its geometry from the Salento coastline, the rugged, rocky shoreline of Puglia in southern Italy. Sebastian Herkner, the German designer known for his sensitivity to material and cultural reference, translated that geological character into a modular seating system whose silhouettes feel simultaneously ancient and current.
Each element is defined by irregular, rounded contours that resist the orthogonal logic of conventional sofa design. Volumes feel gathered rather than constructed, soft in outline yet precise in proportion. The system grows through the addition of new seating elements, opening a wide range of configurations suited to intimate domestic rooms and expansive hospitality settings alike.
- Removable covers in fabrics and leathers from the Cappellini collection
- Free cushions filled with fiber and feather for adjustable comfort and placement
- Modular system with expanding configuration possibilities
Herkner has described his process as one of observation before intervention, finding formal ideas in natural phenomena and cultural memory. Litos is a direct expression of that approach: a landscape compressed into domestic scale.
